Ethics of the Dust
This collection is inspired by the radical Victorian thinker John Ruskin and his book the Ethics of the Dust. Written contemporarily to Darwin’s Origin of Species, this strange and vaguely revolutionary book aims to liberate women in a patriarchal society and inspire them to reveal their talents, all amidst the Socratic discussion of the crystallization of minerals. In essence, it starts from dust and calls into being the most valuable minerals and the most powerful voices.
As we too are at a time of rebirth, this book becomes the structure for a collection that culls ideas of the ancient world, encourages them to clash belligerently against modernity and crystallizes into something sensual, powerful and feminine.
